The Child Dental Benefit Schedule has arrived at Distinctive Dental Care!
Here at Distinctive Dental Care in Bundaberg we are proud supporters of The Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS) which, as of 1 January 2014, has replaced the Teen Dental Voucher System, and allows your child to receive up $1000 in dental services. The Child Benefit Scheme, run through Medicare, entitles your child to a $1,000 benefit (over a two year period) which can be used towards regular dental check-ups and minor dental procedures.
Children aged 2 to 17 who meet certain means testing are eligible for the CDBS. Families eligible for Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or certain other government payments can take advantage of the CDBS. For more information on eligibility and qualifying we recommend phoning the Department of Human Services in person on 132 011.
Child Dental Benefits Scheme covers general dentistry including:
- Regular check-up professional clean and examination every 6 months
- Fissure sealants
- Some extractions
- Partial dentures
- IV sedation (claimable one every 12 month period)
- Nitrous oxide (children’s dental anxiety treatment)
Is there a gap payment I have to pay?
At Distinctive Dental Care in Bundaberg, we can check your child’s eligibility for the Medicare children’s dental benefits scheme with your permission, if your child is eligible, you will be able to claim up to $1000 rebate per year towards their dental treatment. At the time of consultation we will be able to inform you of the approximate rebate you can expect to receive from Medicare for any treatments performed, you simply present your receipt to Medicare to receive the rebate. There will be a gap payment between the Medicare benefit and our regular fees, the benefit does not cover the full fee of the treatment. This service is a great opportunity for families to receive a rebate for their child’s dental care and we encourage all our families to check their eligibility.
